Blogging Survey Results
Whilst perhaps less exciting than yesterday's HEPI / Advance HE Student Academic Experience Survey results, see below the results of my recent blogging survey. Many thanks to all who completed it.
Key things I learned included:
I have more readers than I thought. On a typical day this site gets 40-50 unique visitors. However, the survey indicated that over half of those completing it visited the site once a week or less. Extrapolating up, I probably have at least 200 people reading this on a weekly basis.
Over 90% of people reading the blog know me personally. That's not a surprise, at this stage of development - though I was pleased at least some people who didn't know me completed it (and potentially such people are less likely to do so).
Almost half the people who completed the survey agree with most of what I write, half with about half and 1/6 agree with less than half - I'm doing a good job at reaching out to people who disagree with me rather than talking to a bubble.
Just over half of people have recommended the blog to others: something to see if I can improve.
On the content, on a 4-point scale, the average ranged from 2.58 (puzzles and quizzes) to 3.25 (society and economics), with most coming in the high 2 range. Hopefully the society and economics people will have been pleased by the recent burst of education posts!
What I found most interesting though was how those scores were reached. Books and Games and Religion and Philosophy had very similar results; but whereas the former was dominated by 3/4 of people recording a 3, Religion and Philosophy is much more of a Marmite topic, with 5 people indifferent or uninterested and 4 people wanting to see me post more frequently. Overall, the survey suggests I've got the balance of posts reasonably correct, with perhaps a little more on the society and economics side.
