Congratulations on reaching this milestone! Particularly enjoyed the questions and the candid and considered answers. Glad to see these posts flourish - and offer such a stimulus to thinking- whether one agrees or disagrees.
Thanks for in the insight. I particularly appreciated the poetic basis. A subtle and moving piece of poetry!
Would you be up for giving some examples of effective and ineffective groups? (Appreciate you might not want to give this insight for groups trying to achieve ends you think unwise or evil)
If you want to influence government policy, consider giving influential politicians money to buy designer clothes and free tickets to pop concerts and sporting events.
I encourage any millionaire readers thinking of giving influential politicians designer clothes to instead take out a paid subscription to this substack - it is both cheaper and more ethical!
I must admit I'm surprised by your poetic explanation of your politics. I appreciate there is necessary shorthand in explaining things, but do you really mean that 'everything that is right and good and true in the world has been under assault by the left'? Maybe I'm naive, but having read your Substack for a while you never struck me as having such absolutist views.
I'm also surprised to hear you describe yourself above as mainly apolitical when you joined the Civil Service if you've held this view for 'as long as [you've] been old enough to take notice'.
Can I ask if you could expand on this, and whether you see the right as also assaulting right and good and true things or consistently defending them against the left? How often, if ever, do you see the roles as reversed?
Thanks for covering my question, and for quire a reassuring reply! Feels like there’s a bit of momentum behind the idea that we need to start making good economic & social choices if we want the country to thrive.

I'd suggest it is in the nature of a poetic explanation is that it should not be taken too literally. :-)
